Her soft voice had lulled him off to sleep. He opened his eyes and looked down at his feet and there she was. Like always sleeping with her head at his feet. He has missed it. Had he really been tired or had her voice relaxed him to a point where he hadn't realized that he had fallen asleep. At least she hadn't found out about the listening device. He got up and picked her up and laid her on the bed. He kissed her forehead and whispered "I love you Khushi". He had no time to sit and watch her today he needed to get everything ready for the pooja, but how would he do that. No one in the family had accepted her. It was time to use emotional blackmail. Di had been using it on him for many years and he had a learnt a few things from her. Time to give Di a dose of her own bitter medicine.

Arnav got ready and went downstairs and like always Di was getting everything for morning arti. He walked up to the mandhir and removed his shoes. "Morning Di" he said to her. She turned around and looked shocked. "Chote tum, your up early this morning" she replied. looking at him with curiosity.

"Actually Di we need to arrange a Barsi puja today. It's Khushi's parents barsi." He said getting straight to the point.

"No, I can't do this. You know Khushi has not been accepted into this family. Sorry chote this puja will not happen in this house." she replied and turned back to continue what she was doing.

"Di please, I know you have not accepted her but that doesn't mean she is not my wife. Put yourself in her shoes, how would you feel? and Di think of what Ma would think of you if you refused to do this. After all everyone in this family thinks you are Ma." He said and turned away. Since his marriage to Khushi his relationship with his Di had suffered. Today even when she spoke to him there was still some reluctance and distance between them.

"Oh yeah and Di, remember that we all have to leave this world one day. If we remember our dead there will be people to remember us. If we don't then maybe there won't be anyone to remember us." He added and walked off towards the dining room. He gave his sister half an hour to come to to him. If she didn't he would have to arrange this puja all by himself.

Even 5 minutes was too much for his Di. "Chote I will arrange for it in the evening. I don't know if the family will sit but rest assured that I will sit with Khushiji during the puja." she said. She came and sat next to him. "I understand what it feels like to have lost your parents and you are right no matter what has happened Ma would not be happy is we didn't arrange for this puja"

"Thank you Di." He said hugging his sister. He stood up and walked back into the room. She was still asleep. He went and sat next to her and tucked some stray hair behind her ear. She was so beautiful and he couldn't thank his lucky stars enough that she was his wife. Even though his mind was still in doubt about her relationship with Shyam his gut instinct told him that there was more to this story then he knew. It was time to shower his love on her. He knew forgiveness would not come easy but he also knew he needed to earn it. He came close to her ear and whispered her name.

"Khushi, it's time to get up" He said softly in her ear. He felt her eyes open and she turned her face bring her lips parallel to him. She looked shocked to see him so near and her eyes showed nervousness. He sat up and she jumped from the bed.

"Aap... Did you need something?" she asked softly.

"Actually Khushi I need you to get ready and come with me." He  said getting up from the bed. He walked up to the wardrobe and opened it. He looked through her small selection of sari's looking for one particular sari that he had kept for her. He had not seen her wear it as yet. He found it and picked it. He walked to her and held it out to her. She looked at him not knowing what to do.

"Take it... I want you to wear this today. Now hurry up we need to have breakfast and leave." He said a small smile forming on his lips. Khushi didn't understand what had happened to Arnav. This looked like her husband but he sure was not acting like him. She took the sari from his hands and made her way into the bathroom confused.  Arnav didn't miss the confusion on her face and smiled at her cuteness. He rummaged through the drawers and found her bangles and jewelry. He laid it all out and waited for her outside their room. Today he would hold her hand and walk with her downstairs. He would wait for her to do arti and then take her to the dining table. It was time his wife was given proper respect in this house. He watched as she came out of the bathroom. The surprise on her face gave him contentment. She looked around but didn't see him as he was hiding. She quickly got ready and walked out of the room still wondering what had happened this morning.

"Hey gorgeous, all ready to go." He said gently to her as she walked past him. She stopped and nodded without looking at him. He knew she was blushing, he walked up to her and grabbed her hand wand walked with her downstairs. Di had just finished morning Arti and everyone was making their way to the dining table. They made thier way to the mandhir when...
"She cannot enter our Mandhir" Nani's voice came loud and clear.

Arnav looked up and and saw the whole family looking at the them. He walked with her to Nani and said in a loud clear but gentle voice. "Khushi can enter the mandhir as it is God's house and no one including you nani can stop us." with that Arnav took Khushi to the mandhir and waited there with her. She looked confused wondering what she was supposed to do.

"Don't you want to do arti?" He asked watching her standing there. "But di has already..." She started. He cut her off, "Just because Di has done arti doesn't mean you can't do it" He watched her pick the thaali and do arti. Even though he didn't believe in God he closed his eyes and joined his hands. He opened his eyes and watched tears run down her cheeks as she prayed. He went and stood next to her and held the thaali as she did arti. She opened her eyes and looked at him and he looked at her. He raised his eyebrow and then turned to look at the murti infront of him. They finished Arti and Khushi kept the thaali back. Then he grabbed her hand and took her to the dining table. He made her sit next to him and started to serve her breakfast. He felt the shocked looks coming from her family. He ignored them and continued to serve breakfast to both of them.  As he started to eat he realised that Khushi hadn't started to eat. He put his spoon down and picked hers took some food. "Khushi..." He said waiting for her to look at him. "Hmm" she said and turned. He lifted the spoon to her mouth. "We need to hurry ok so please eat breakfast today is going to be a long day" he said to her still waiting for her to open her mouth. She opened her mouth and he fed her. She was still confused and dazed and taking advantage of that Arnav fed her all of her breakfast knowing that this was the first time she would have eaten it all. He would make sure that from today she ate all her food. As soon as he fed her he quickly ate his breakfast and stood up. "Di I leave it to you to sort out the preparations and if you need anything please call me and I will make sure it gets to you" he said and then turned to khushi "Shall we go?" he asked holding out his hand. She looked up and put her hand in his as he led her out of the house.

Pre-cap

"Arnavji... why did you marry me?" Khushi asked him
"Khushi... If i tell you I am scared I will lose you before I can properly make up for my mistake. Please give me one more chance and trust me. I will in time tell you everything. For now I want us to try and become friends ok." He replied waiting for her reply.
